Super Eagles Honoured By The Federal Goverment


Members of the Super Eagles and technical crews were honoured by the Federal Government yesterday night with National Honours and gifts at a dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

Super Eagle coach Stephen Keshi recieved N10 million, while other members got N5 million each. Additonally they were honoured with the National Honours of Member of the order of Niger (MON).

Stephen Keshi  recieved N10 million, National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and a plot of land in Abuja.
Assitant Coaches, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorumi got N5 million, Officer of the Order of the Nigeria (OON) and a plot of land each in Abuja.
Joseph Yobo recieved N5 million, Officer of the Order of the Nigeria (OON) and a plot of land.
Other Members were honoured with the Member of the other of the Niger (MON), N5 million each and they also got a plot of land each in Abuja.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Minister of Sports  appealed to Nigerians to shun acrimony and join the federal government in the development of sports and that the victory of the Super Eagles was just the beginning to achieving greatness.

President Jonathan also announced cash donations from other High Networth Nigerians which  includes $1million from Mike Adenuga (Jnr) to the players and $200,000 to Stephen Keshi, Aliko Dangote donated N5 million to each of the players, while $500,000 each from Emeka Ofor, Jim Ovia and Tony Elumelu were given to them.
